Amber asked Anthony, "Are you sure Kai is your son😱?"

Amber asked Anthony, "Are you sure Kai is your son😱?"

Amber:
“Are you sure Kai is your son😱?”

Anthony (confused):
“What kind of question is that, Amber? Of course he’s my son. Why would you even ask something like that?”

Amber (hesitant):
“I’m not trying to start anything, Anthony. But I’ve noticed some things… He doesn’t really look like you. And lately, he’s been asking questions about his past, about why he doesn’t look like anyone in your family.”

Anthony:
“He’s nine, Amber. Kids ask weird questions. You’re reading too much into it.”

Amber:
“No, I’m not. I’m just saying… there are differences. He has green eyes—neither you nor I do. And his blood type doesn’t even match ours.”

Anthony (suddenly serious):
“Wait. Blood type? What are you talking about?”

Amber (softly):
“I had to take him to the doctor last month when he had that bad flu. They ran some blood tests. They told me his blood type is AB. Yours is O, mine is A. That… that doesn’t add up, Anthony.”

Anthony (sits down slowly):
“…You’re telling me this now?”

Amber:
“I wasn’t sure how to bring it up. I’ve been sitting with it for weeks. I didn’t want to hurt you.”

Anthony:
“Amber, do you even hear yourself? Are you saying I’m not Kai’s father?”

Amber:
“I don’t know. I mean, I thought you were. I wanted you to be. But science doesn’t lie.”

Anthony (quietly):
“Are you saying there’s a chance he isn’t mine because of something that happened before we were married?”

Amber (looking away):
“There was one night… right before you and I got serious. You remember how messy things were back then. I didn’t even think it could matter. Until now.”

Anthony (breathing heavily):
“Why didn’t you tell me this before? When you found out you were pregnant?”

Amber:
“Because I truly believed he was yours. He was meant to be yours. You’ve raised him. You love him. That has to count for something.”

Anthony:
“Amber, I’ve given that kid everything. I’ve sacrificed so much. And now you’re saying he might not be mine, genetically?”

Amber (crying):
“I know. And I’m sorry. But we have to know the truth, don’t we? Not for me. Not even for you. For Kai. He deserves to know where he came from.”

Anthony (after a long pause):
“…So what do we do now?”

Amber:
“We take a paternity test. Together. We face this like adults, like parents. No matter what the result is, nothing changes the fact that you’re his dad in every way that matters.”

Anthony (quietly):
“That’s easy to say now, but if the test comes back and I’m not his father… I don’t know what that will do to me. Or to us.”

Amber:
“I know. But we can’t pretend anymore. The questions won’t stop. And one day, Kai’s going to want answers.”

Anthony (nodding slowly):
“Alright. We’ll get the test. But Amber, if this changes everything… I need you to be honest with me. From now on. No more surprises.”

Amber:
“I promise. No more secrets. We’ll get through this. I believe we will.”
