[INT. SHAYLA'S APARTMENT – NIGHT]
The room is dimly lit. Rain taps softly against the window. Shayla stands near the doorway, arms crossed, eyes locked onto Anthony. He's leaning against the wall, jaw tight, voice cold.

Anthony:
(quietly)
"If you want me to stay with you… you need to apologize to Amber."

Shayla:
(blinks, stunned)
"What did you just say?"

Anthony:
(firmer now)
"You heard me."

Shayla:
(steps forward)
"Apologize? After everything she did? You want me to apologize?"

Anthony:
(nods slowly)
"Yes."

Shayla:
(laughs bitterly)
"She spread lies about me, tried to turn everyone against me—including you. And you want me to say sorry?"

Anthony:
"Because she didn’t lie about everything."

Shayla:
(voice drops to a whisper)
"...What does that mean?"

Anthony:
(pauses, staring into her eyes)
"It means I know about the texts. The ones you deleted."

Shayla:
(takes a step back)
"You went through my phone?"

Anthony:
"I didn’t have to. Amber showed me."

Shayla:
(eyes widen, breath hitching)
"That snake... she set me up. She’s been trying to destroy me since the moment she found out we were together."

Anthony:
"And maybe she had a reason to."

Shayla:
(glaring)
"Don’t do this. Don’t stand there and act like she’s innocent. You know how manipulative she is."

Anthony:
"And yet, somehow, she’s still the one hurting… and you're the one holding all the secrets."

Shayla:
(voice cracks)
"You don’t know everything, Anthony."

Anthony:
"Then tell me. Right now. Because I’m this close to walking away."

(He holds up his fingers, barely an inch apart. The room falls deathly still.)

Shayla:
(whispers)
"I didn’t mean for any of this to happen."

Anthony:
"What happened, Shayla?"

Shayla:
(long pause, trembling)
"Amber… she wasn’t just your friend. She was mine, too. A long time ago. Before you ever came into the picture."

Anthony:
"And?"

Shayla:
"And she did something. Something that changed everything between us. I never told you because... I knew you'd never look at her the same way again."

Anthony:
"You're right. I wouldn’t. But I deserve to know the truth."

Shayla:
(voice low)
"She lied to you about some things. But she told the truth about others. I did say something awful to her, years ago. Something unforgivable."

Anthony:
"What was it?"

(Shayla closes her eyes. A single tear rolls down her cheek. She whispers it like a curse.)

Shayla:
"I told her... that no one would ever love her. That she was just a shadow... and would always be one."

(A beat of silence. Anthony’s expression twists—anger, hurt, confusion.)

Anthony:
"Why?"

Shayla:
(whispers)
"Because I was afraid of losing you."

Anthony:
(steps back slowly, almost in disbelief)
"That’s not fear. That’s cruelty."

Shayla:
"I know. That’s why I never told you. That’s why I’ve tried so hard to make it right. But she won’t let me."

Anthony:
"Then try harder."

(He moves toward the door. Shayla runs after him, grabbing his arm.)

Shayla:
"Please… don’t go."

Anthony:
(without turning around)
"Then do what’s right. Call her. Apologize. Not because I asked you to—but because you finally understand why you need to."

(He steps out, leaving Shayla alone, the sound of the rain growing louder behind her.)
